It’s Valentine’s Day and there’s nothing better than listening to some of our favorite couples’ songs to celebrate!
John Mayer and Katy Perry
Just when we thought they couldn’t get any cuter, John Mayer and Katy Perry released this video for their song Who You Love and… well, we were wrong.
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert
Speaking of cute couples, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert wrote together Over You, but since the couple doesn’t appear together on the video for the song, we choose a live performance that will make you fall in love with them!
Jay Z and Beyoncé
What can we say? The sexiest, richest, most powerful couple in the music business. And they make really good music!
Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavign
They’ve already been considered one of the weirdest couple in rock and roll, but they seen to be pretty in love and that’s the spirit of Valentine’s Day. Although it’s a sad song about breaking up, after writing Let Me Go, Avril and Chad not only continued working together, but also started their relationship.
Alex and Sierra
They won the X Factor USA last year and also won our hearts. Already one of the best couples in music!
We’re so lucky that these couples decided to work together! We can’t wait to see their next project. What about a baby?!
According to last night’s episode of the tv show Warped Roadies, Motionless In White, The Word Alive, Real Friends, This Wild Life and Courage My Love are the bands that just joined this year’s Warped Tour line-up. Here’s a little bit of them:
Motionless In White
The Word Alive
This Wild Life
Courage My Love
Warped Tour starts on June 13 in Houston and tickets are already on sale. For more information, go to www.vanswarpedtour.com/
First time we saw Echosmith, the three brothers and one sister were playing a small stage on Warped Tour 2013. Since then, they had already released their debut album “Talking Dreams”, on October 8th, and has recently been selected as MTV's 2014 Artists To Watch.
Graham, Sydney, Noah, and Jamie Sierota grew up playing multiple instruments and their father, who’s a music writer and producer, was the first to put the four of them together to play. They describe their music as indie-pop, sometimes inspired by the 80’s and bands like Coldplay and U2.
We hope you fall in love with them as fast as we did!
Today is Super Bowl Halftime Show day, and if you’re as excited as we are, join us to see 6 of the best performances ever!
1993 – Michael Jackson
That was the first year to have a huge artist on stage and it’s still one of the most watched American television programs of all time. After that, Super Bowl Halftime Show would never be the same again!
2001 – Aerosmith, ‘N Sync & Britney Spears
Leave all your preconceptions behind. This performance brings together the best of pop music and the best of rock and roll. Yes, it worked!
2005 – Paul McCartney
We feel like this performance could have lasted for the rest of the game. You know, who needs anything else when you’ve got Paul McCartney?!
2006 – The Rolling Stones
Ladies and gentlemen, The Rolling Stones:
2009 – Bruce Springsteen
After this performance, someone has to write the song “moves like Springsteen”.
2012 – Madonna
Madonna kicking the young ladies’ butt by showing that age is not the key to be a hardcore popstar.
2013 – Beyoncé
Bruno Mars, you better work your ass off this year if you want to beat Queen B!
2014 - Beyoncé
Yes, we choose the Queen Bee for the second year in a row even though she wasn’t the main attraction. She crashed Jay-Z’s Pre-Super Bowl gig to perform her hit single “Drunk in Love”. Watch the power couple do their thing.
Maybe next year, Bruno Mars.
There are so many great performances! Did we choose your favorites?
Have you ever listened to a song imagining you’re inside of a video clip?! Well, of course you did! And it’s ok, we always do that. But imagine how wonderful it would be if you could really be a part of your favorite song video or even if you could make it by yourself?! These lucky people had the chance to do so:
Solar Powered life – The Classic Crime
In 2010, the Seattle-based band The Classic Crime invited their fans to do their own video for “Solar Powered Life” in a contest. We love the winner version:
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Charlie”
Red Hot Chili Peppers also had a contest to choose the best fan-made version for the video of “Charlie”. The result is crazy, just like the band:
The Vaccines – Wetsuit
The Vaccines invited their fans to be a part of their video by posting pictures on Instagram with te hashtag #vaccinesvideo . They got more than 3.000 pictures from 90 different countries! See the result:
Evanescence – Lost In Paradise
For the video of “Lost In Paradise”, Evanescence used videos of their latest tour recorded by the fans. It’s simple, but it’s beautiful:
Michael Jackson – Behind The Mask
Michael Jackson’s video for the posthumous song “Behind The Mask” was made with videos of fans from all over the world who were dressed like him, trying to copy his moves and holding posters where you could read the lyrics for the song. What a beautiful tribute!
Although you may think you’ve never heard anything from Blackbear, you probably did. He co-wrote Boyfriend for Justin Bieber and has already collaborated with the likes of Ne-Yo, Rivers Cuomo, Pharrell Williams, and Childish Gambino.
His smooth vocals along with the mix he does between pop, R&B and various different synths could be compared to Frank Ocean and The Weeknd, but he’s somehow unique. He’s #HotInSaloote ;)
We always thought that John Mayer wrote In Repair when he was passing through some kind of difficult situation, just as anyone of us, ordinary people. The truth is: this song was written in less than one day. Yes, while you keep procrastinating on Facebook, John Mayer writes songs that changes lives. That’s why we love him!
Now tell us, what’s your favorite John Mayer song?
In 2013 a lot of our favorite musicians decided to bring us back the gift of their talent. We made our list of Best Comebacks of the year:
On David Bowie’s 66th birthday, it was him who gave us a gift when revealing a new song on the internet. After ten years since his last studio work, on march 8th, Bowie released the 17º album of his career, ‘The Next Day’.
Justin Timberlake abandoned his music career right after bringing the sexy back, in 2007, with his second album FutureSex/LoveSounds. Although we’ve seen him a lot on the big screen, we couldn’t wait for his musical comeback and ‘The 20/20 Experience’ have been an awesome experience!
Hide yo kids, hide yo bats! After 18 years of hiatus, Ozzy Osboune and two of the original Black Sabbath members, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi, released ‘13’, the band’s 19º album. Ozzy can still sing and they keep making good music. Thanks, God! Oh, wait…
You may or may not have heard about the French electronic music duo Daft Punk in 2013. After three silent years, they released the album ‘Random Access Memories’ and got really lucky. In case you were not in this planet and didn’t get the joke, here’s their a little bit famous single:
Four years and two daughters after her last album, ‘It’s not me, it’s you’, Lily Allen still has the same doll face and sharp tongue. Hard Out Here, single released on November certainly will make little Lilies proud of their mama.
We know, sometimes watching talent shows is just like watching your friend, who really can sing, killing it on the karaoke every single night. But this time don’t be jealous and enjoy our list of Best Talent Show Performances of the Year:
I Put a Spell on You by Nina Simone – Jacquie Lee on The Voice USA
Redemption Song by Bob Marley – Mitchell Brunings on The Voice of Holland
Say My Name by Destiny Child – Alex & Sierra on X Factor
Mama knows best by Jessie J – Elona Santiago on X Factor
Angie Miller sings her own song “You Set Me Free” on American Idol
We love music! We love it so much that we can listen to the same one over and over again. But sometimes we like to listen to something different, even if it’s a different version of the same song. That’s why we love covers so much! Those are our favorites of 2013:
Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey – Cover by Miley Cyrus
Miley, Miley… we love you just like we love summer, but we love you even more when you don’t let us down. Sadness is far from what we feel when we hear this version, though. Well done, girl!
Thinking About You by Frank Ocean – Cover by Erica Vidallo
Ok, we still don’t know if we believe that all that voice really came from this little girl. Let’s just listen to it while you guys help us to figure it out.
Mirrors by Justin Timberlake – Cover by Boyce Avenue feat Fifth Harmony
Just ask Boyce Avenue to cover anything and they’ll do it right. This time the girls from Fifth Harmony joined the band in a breath-taking version of Mirrors. Justin bless you!
Made In The USA by Demi Lovato – cover by MarcoZero
You don’t need much when you’ve got talent. Watch these three Brazilian guys just keeping it simple:
Wake Me Up by Avicci – Cover by Pixie Lott
Don’t you love when someone turns a dance song into a song even your grandparents would listen to?! Thanks, Pixie!
There were so many amazing covers we left out because we couldn’t come to an agreement… 2013 was a great year for music! You can help us grow this list (and settle down some disputes in the office). What was your favorite cover of 2013? Let us know on our Facebook page.
